Why join our CSA?

You are already spending this amount on veggies at the grocery store that were picked a week ago or more and then sprayed and/or waxed to look fresh after shipping. The difference with joining our CSA is you will be receiving veggies that are picked fresh that day and are virtually free of harmful sprays. We also incorporate Healthy Growing Practices, which include arranging the garden so that beneficial plants are beside each other; using protective plants to ward off insects; using our own compost made from leaves, straw, sawdust, etc.; and using environmentally friendly sprays only when necessary. By using our own greenhouse in addition to the garden, we are able to offer you fresh vegetables for an extended season.

How do I know it's fresh?

No refrigeration process here! And you can take a tour of our garden to see the growing process for yourself.

Shares

Two sizes of shares are available. A Couples Share is portioned to provide ample quantities for two people each week and is 60% of a Family Share. A Family Share is portioned to provide ample quantities for four people each week. We strive to provide a generous quantity of 6 – 10 different items each week, exact quantities will vary by season.

What do I get?

We will be growing at least 30 different types of vegetables, plus herbs and flowers. At various times throughout the season, we may include such items as local honey, decorative corn, cut flowers, pumpkins, cider or other surprises. Each week we will provide a different recipe to help you enjoy your harvest.

Reusable Bags

There is a one-time fee for reusable shopping bags. These bags will be used to deliver your share each week. We will give you a full one and you will return your empty bag for us to fill the next week. We feel this arrangement is a much better use of resources, and friendlier to the environment, than using plastic grocery bags. Please take care of and remember to return your bag each week to keep our costs, and yours, down.

How does it work?

Each week we will fill your bag with freshly picked produce all packed and ready for you to pick up. We pack the bags for you to make it more convenient. This also ensures equitable distribution of the harvest and minimizes handling of the produce.

Pick-Up

Shares can be picked up at the farm on Tuesdays 4:30 pm - 7:00 pm, Wednesdays 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, or Fridays 3:30 pm – 6:00 pm. We also offer a convenient pickup at Mountaintop Montessori School in Charlottesville on Wednesdays, 4:00 - 6:00 pm.

What if I miss a week?

If you are unable to pick up your share, we will donate it via our Harvest for HOPE program.

Working with Calvary Chapel Fluvanna, extra produce will be given to local families in need to provide them with fresh, nutritional food.

Also, if you desire to do more to fight hunger in our community, you can purchase an extra share just to donate (see order form).
